4 Months - Go Pack Go!

We are ready to celebrate the big 4 months with Cole by watching the Packers crush the Bears! :) Scott, Beth, Nate and Melanie are all heading over for the game. The anticipation has been rising all week...this morning Kyle woke up saying, "Today is the day!" Now...on to the 4 month post!

It is unbelievable how fast these months go and unbelievable how much fun Cole is every month. And fun in new ways! This was a big month of changes and transitions!

  • The inaccurate weigh-in says Cole is between 13-15 pounds. We get the real number on Tuesday at his 4 month appointment. I believe he is 23 inches. So, he is growing and I am wondering if he will still be "petite."
  • He is still wearing 0-3 months clothing. And there is still some room so no need to go shopping yet! :) But I am excited for when I get to.
  • He has started going to the sitters and he is really doing well. They LOVE having him there and he has been a blessing while there.

  • Playing with Erika at Dawn's

  • He continues to nap extremely well. Just wants to lay down and sleep.
  • We had a lot of work with getting Cole to sleep through the night with just starting the process and him getting sick and then starting the process again. We have got him sleeping til 4:00 am. Then Kyle goes in and gives him his nuk and then I feed him at 5:30 usually.
  • He had his first fever! It was a little scary for me but we got through it. Mariah had him for the first day of it and did a great job. Josh too!
  • He has become more aware. Kind of like a robot moving his head all over the place in a rigid way.
  • He looks at Nala all the time. So, he notices her which is kind of cool.

  • He has FINALLY started to smile at me when I talk to him. It is sooooo fun! I say "Hi Cole Baby" and he laughs right away.
  • We have moved from eating 4 ounces a day to 6 ounces every feeding. I can't keep up so we have been supplementing with formula.

  • At the 6:00 feeding he gets some rice cereal! So fun and he now opens his mouth to enjoy it. Cute!

  • He continues to be the light of our life. It is amazing how life transforms. I go to school and when I get home my life is all about the Cole Baby! Spring Break can't come soon enough. :)

We Survived...

We survived the first week and are prepared and ready for week #2!
The week went well and was full of transitions for us all. After two nights of Cole NOT sleeping, I had a lovely conversation wtih Carol where we figured out an action plan. The big accomplishments of the week were...
#1 - Learning Cole did NOT need to eat in the middle of the night
#2 - Giving Cole 2 oz of formula along with nursing to get him through the night
#3 - Kyle getting up with Cole when he woke up, only to soothe him and get him to sleep.
#4 - Shortening Cole's naps to 3 hours a day....sometimes 3 1/2.
#5 - COLE SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT! AMEN! (I can't believe how alert I am when I have 7 hours of sleep! :)
Not only did Cole have a big week of transitions but he adjusted really well. He had a great time with both Mariah and Dawn and I am so glad we are blessed with great babysitters. God totally planned out our babysitters and I am so thankful for them. Josh was also able to spend some extra time with Cole which is fun for him too!

I adjusted fine with going back to school. I am more looking forward to this week because I have better plans and have gotten a good idea of who my students are again. I get home from school and my focus is completely on Cole. We have 4 hours of playing together and he is back to sleep but I love those hours. The moment that made me realize that I will be able to do this whole working mom thing was when Cole smiled at me when I went in to get him Saturday morning. And again, the day was spent focused on him.
We will see how this week goes but I am praying and hoping for the best! Thanks for all the support in getting me through! :)
Go PACK! Cole is sleeping through some it right now! :)
Look at those tired eyes...
